Long-term planning: implementation of the assumptions

Planning itself is not enough these days. Even if we create a perfect schedule, how will it work if our assumptions do not coincide with reality? If we anticipate too high or too low demand. We plan employees with insufficient skills or use too much material? Well, efficiency will be quite low in spite of a perfect, but impossible to implement plan.

Challenge: quality and accuracy of forecasts

Forecasts are not plans or goals to be implemented. They are what these plans and goals allow to realize. However, before they do, they must be accurate. And we must know: What to use from these forecasts? With whom to consult their correctness? What should we have, if we want to implement them? Everyone who has been involved in forecasting for a moment knows that creating the right forecast is quite a big challenge.

Solution: forecasts and their analysis

It is best to combine several elements - planners’ experience, cooperation with other departments (sharing conclusions), advanced statistical methods, automation of the forecasting process and drawing conclusions for the future. There are no accurate forecasts without knowledge, but also there are no forecasts with knowledge that we do not have time to use.
