eq system during Manufacturing Summit 2018 – Industry 4.0 does not exist?

Another important conference is behind us – Manufacturing Summit 2018 in Wrocław. During it, many interesting conclusions were made, just as many discussions and conversations were done on subjects related to the improvement of production processes and the Industry 4.0 conception.

During his speech, our expert Michał Żelichowski talked about the benefits of bringing together staff and production departments. He stressed that they still too often exist in isolation from each other, and communication between them is too inflexible. And yet precise realisation of production plans is not possible without providing the cast – in the right place, time and above all with the right competences. Michał Żelichowski together with the participants analysed various scenarios and possibilities for closer cooperation of these departments, and hence ensure an efficient and immediate exchange of information between them. In such transformation modern technologies which allow to automate the schedule planning are very helpful. This ability has our authorial solution named XPRIMER >>

After all speakers’ speeches, the time has come to debate on the concept of Industry 4.0. Our second expert, Dariusz Kacperczyk, pointed out that it is difficult to talk about Industry 4.0, when a large part of production companies still forgets about the basics (including communication, standardization of procedures, well-described technology and planning strategy). In such situation it is hard to effectively implement the Industry 4.0 concept in a way, which makes full use of the potential of improvements introduced by it. Organisational negligence can not be made up overnight.

Reflecting on the phenomenon of Industry 4.0, analysing companies that in their actions are based on continuous development (kaizen) and those which choose rather rapid change (kaikaku), I am inclined to think that Industry 4.0 is not a revolution but an evolution.

Dariusz Kacperczyk, Vice-chairman of the Management Board in the eq system

We do not conceal that the debate was quite stormy, but the participants of the conference awarded our expert with applause full of favour. They appreciated him for the honesty of the approach and for negating the thesis that the implementation of the Industry 4.0 concept always makes sense and always brings positive effects. It brings, but only at the moment when we are properly prepared for such a change and we know what consequences it will bring.
